Bird Songs at the Sound of Your Voice

Now, BirdAudio has launched a voice-activated field guide that allows birders to identify birds by songs. It plays on PDAs so that it can easily be used in the field.
Founder, Kathie Riedel, created BirdAudio after trying to identify birds by bird songs written in a field guide.
"Birding is as much by ear as by eye. So, with voice recognition becoming better and better and with storage capacity of handheld devices increasing to the gigabyte range, it seemed an idea like BirdAudio was feasible." she stated.
BirdAudio operates on PDAs with PocketPC 2002 and higher or Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 and higher. It is very easy to use: download the software program to your PDA, say the name of the bird, and the bird's song plays on your PDA. The two software programs currently available are the North American Eastern Bird Songs and North American Western Bird Songs with each containing over 50 bird songs.
